On the Holidays page, administrators can set the non-working days for their company.
This article explains how to add holidays and link them to each employee’s province so their timesheets show the right days off.
The holidays also appear in time-off requests (absences, vacation and accrued time) and in each employee’s calendar, based on the province of residence in their profile.
Add holidays
Set up the holidays that apply to your company, based on the legal requirements in each region where your employees work. These can be statutory holidays or company-specific days off.
You need the Company › Norms › Holidays permission.
Holidays must be recreated manually for each new HR year so that holiday pay is calculated correctly. Some holidays also fall on a different date each year, so add them at the start of every HR year.
- In Folks, go to the Holidays page (Company › Norms › Holidays).
- Select the HR year and click + Add.
- In the window that opens, enter the holiday name. To display the name in the language of each employee’s profile, click the translation icon (Add translation).
- Enter the date and select the regions where the statutory holiday applies (Canadian provinces, US states or countries).
- Click Add.
To edit or delete a holiday, click the three-dot icon (More options). Holidays dated on or before the end date of the last locked pay period can’t be edited (padlock icon).
Configure holiday calculations
To set up holiday calculations, open the timesheet and click the gear icon › Holidays.
You can turn on automatic calculation using the 1/20 rule from Quebec’s Act respecting labour standards, set a custom number of hours, or choose not to calculate holidays (see Set up holiday calculations for the timesheet).
