Starting October 30, 2026, you’ll be able to submit your Records of Employment (ROEs) directly to Service Canada through ROE SAT (see Secure Automated Transfer of ROEs).
In Folks Payroll, Records of Employment (ROEs) are not linked to a specific pay period and can be submitted at any time.
However, it is recommended to wait until the employee’s last pay has been submitted so that all their data is included. It is not necessary to wait for this pay to be officially deposited into the employee’s bank account.

Generating a Record of Employment
- Go to Payroll > Dashboard > ☰ > Employees.
- Click on the desired employee, then on the ROEs tab.
- Then click on Generate New ROE.
- In the window that opens, enter the first day worked and the last day for which the employee was paid. For more information on what to include in the different fields, refer to Employers: How to complete the record of employment (ROE) form.
- Block 10 – First Day Worked: In this block, you usually enter the employee's first day of work for which he or she received insurable earnings. However, if you have previously issued an ROE for that employee, the date you enter in Block 10 will be the first day the employee worked after the last interruption of earnings (that is, since the last ROE was issued). Folks will automatically generate the first date worked and paid recorded in the system for this employee. Therefore, you do not need to change this date unless your employee has been on a work stoppage since then.
- Block 11 – Last Day Paid: In this block, enter the last day for which the employee received insurable earnings. This date usually coincides with the last day of work; however, in some cases, employees continue to receive insurable earnings after their last day of work. This occurs with paid leave, such as vacation or sick leave, earned days off, or salary continuance.
- Select the separation code and the expected recall code.
- Click on Generate ROE.
The system then creates an ROE in draft mode. You can click on it to review and make any necessary changes, for example, if errors have been detected.
When everything is correct, click Finalize so that the ROE can be processed by our internal team and sent directly to Service Canada. As soon as Service Canada processes the document, you will be able to find it in your ROE Web account.
Secure Automated Transfer of ROEs - Coming October 30
ROE SAT removes the need to grant authorization in ROE Web. It provides structured submission results (including serial number tracking), so you can download a PDF copy once Service Canada has accepted the ROE.
What happens if I currently submit ROEs through ROE Web?
Switching to ROE SAT is optional. We’ll invite you to sign the ROE SAT Letter of Agreement (LOA) in the dashboard (ROEs > Agreements). A signature is required for each CRA registration number. The switch takes effect once the LOA is signed. From that point, the next ROE submitted through the platform will automatically be processed through ROE SAT, with no additional setup required.
We will sunset ROE Web submissions at a later date, which will be communicated in a future notice. After the sunset date, if you haven’t signed the ROE SAT LOA, you’ll be responsible for submitting your ROEs manually through ROE Web.
What happens to the existing ROE Web authorization after I switch to ROE SAT?
Switching to ROE SAT does not automatically revoke our existing ROE Web access. Once the transition is complete, you should contact Service Canada to have that access removed.
Is there a deadline for revoking our ROE Web access?
There is no required deadline to revoke an existing ROE Web authorization once ROE SAT is in use. Since we will no longer submit ROEs through ROE Web, the authorization is no longer required. Revoking access is primarily a compliance and access-management cleanup step to remove permissions that are no longer needed.
If you don’t want to transition to ROE SAT, you may continue using ROE Web until the ROE Web sunset date. After that date, ROE Web submissions will no longer be supported. The sunset date will be communicated in a future notice.
